This is the Flexible Love chair, it was designed by Chishen Chium, who one day stumbled upon a small factory producing ‘honeycombed’ sheets of recycled paper in suburban Taipei. Chishen was intrigued by their use of the honeycomb structure to create cardboard palettes that were being used to replace traditional wooden palettes, and believed the material could be applied to create any rigid structure. Within days, the idea for FlexibleLove chair had been sketched out and turned into a working model.

FlexibleLove™ furniture incorporates an ‘accordion-like, honeycomb’ structure to create durable furniture pieces produced from widely-available recycled materials. FlexibleLove furniture, such as FlexibleLove Earth 16, are made from recycled paper and recycled wood waste, and are produced using pre-existing manufacturing processes in order to reduce their overall impact on the environment.

The name “FlexibleLove” was derived from the concept of a ‘flexible love-seat’ – seating that could hold from one to as many as sixteen individuals; changing length and shape with a simple pull at each end. Since the inhabitable spaces over the planet are going scarce, it’s the right time to seek for inspiration from biological elements and to develop ecosystems that could support housing with some adaptive features. Doing just that, Chimera mimics the flexible shape of a mangrove tree to fashion or simply to propose some spiralling skyscrapers for the beautiful city of London. Mangal City consists of modular pod capsules that have biomimetic principles at their core.

“Our vision is to define an urban ecosystem which supports housing and cultural programs and has the ability to adapt, transform, mutate and adjust according to the specific urban and social character of the site.”

The complex topography of the site, i.e. an elevated plateau, seeks to merge the cellular façade of the construction with the surrounding ambiance of the region. Another influencing factor is the natural form of phullotaxis that defines a parametric machine to create a responsive urban ecology.

Our present need for internet connectivity is so profound that secondary devices like the Nextep Computer are bound to be created in the future. Developed to be worn as a bracelet, this future laptop type computer concept is constructed out of a flexible OLED touchscreen. Earmarked for the year 2020, features like a holographic projector (for screen), pull-out extra keyboard panels and social networking compatibility, make the concept plausible. 2020 is not too far away, is this the laptop of the future?

It feels like aeons have passed since I last published an article and although its only been a fortnight its been a slow and painful one.

So what’s the low down? Well for the last fourteen days and fourteen nights myself and a very talented programmer from Pakistan have been struggling to remove an exploit that was added to the inner workings that make Grievous Bodily Charm possible.

Why would someone want to do this to our magazine? Well with popularity comes jealousy and greed. What do they benefit from doing this? Well its a hack to attempt to trick search engines and such to make them think “OUR” traffic, is “THEIR” traffic and therefore giving their website more value and popularity. I am not sure if this actually works but it seems during March and April of 2010 the base64 decode Ninoplas virus has been rife in hitting Wordpress based content management system run websites.

Who do I blame? Firstly myself for not being more up on the security measures to put preventive blockades in place to prevent this and also GoDaddy for being well a pretty shitty hosting company. Thanks to Arshad of ExtensiveWeb for the great assistance with this issue and if anyone finds this from searching for base64decode or ninoplas then I highly recommend you contact this guy.

How can I make it up to the people? Well now this digital clap has been completely removed we have lots and lots of music, art, and other stuff to share with you guys. For now here are some songs I have been listening to over the past few days.

As the technology behind photographic equipment continues to improve and become more readily available to the masses, more and more photographers are presented with the opportunity to experiment with new technologies such as High Speed Photography.

High Speed Photography presents us with the chance to take in the often mesmerising and bizarre moments which are usually “lost between the seconds”.

Good quality examples of high speed photography are emerging with ever increasing regularity, and as this method of photography hasn’t been widely available for long, there are a lot of new ideas and images that have never been seen before.

Its the best bed you’ve ever slept in, the best car you’ve ever driven, the best house you’ve ever lived in, except its a desk. Well, that’s what the designers say anyway… But as bold a claim as that is, we think the Milk table goes as close to fulfilling that prophecy as any desk could.

The Milk Computer Table is sleek, white and very Scandinavian in design. It comes with an adjustable centre leg to ensure it’s at your perfect height, a cable tidy system, smart inner storage cavities and removable squares for optional extras such as a trash can or erm.. fish tank.

This is the Martin Jetpack, an inventive Jetpack loosely based on the helicopter and designed by Martin Aircraft Company of New Zealand. See it in action below:

It is powered by a 200 Horse Power petrol engine and can reach a top speed of 60 mph, an altitude of 8,000 feet, and fly for over 30 minutes on a full tank of fuel. See how it is controlled here:

Each Jetpack costs $75,000, and they are available to pre-order now. However we are yet to see the Jetpack fly outside of a warehouse and up to the 8,000 feet the designers claim it is capable of. Despite this fact, the Martin Jetpack is certainly an impressive piece of technology, and as the design improves and becomes safer, this could well become a fun way to travel in the future.

Google is always looking to take the next step forward on all its projects. The much discussed “20 percent time” that Google employees receive has resulted in a lot of success stories and new advancements and ideas for the company. Jason Holt used his 20 percent project time to create a wraparound view of a modified Google Earth engine, and splashed it across 8 LCD screens in an immersive viewing booth. The result provides a view that bring back memories of the Glass Elevator in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and allows users to seamlessly explore a virtual environment of the Earth, Moon, and Mars. Google has dubbed the experience “Liquid Galaxy.”

Google Liquid Earth was unveiled at TED 2010, and this video from the event showcases Holt running his demo on eight Linux machines and navigating with a six-axis mouse. He also makes use of voice-issued commands to zoom out from San Francisco, California and travel across the globe to check out India’s Taj Mahal.
