Theophilus London is not a pseudonym, a clever play on words, or an alias but the birth name of Theophilus London II a hip hop artist who infuses house, soul and some disco into his musical broth. There are a million ways to describe his music and at the same time there isn’t one. From funky to laid back jams the music examines and describes a broad musical and artistic influence. An artist quickly emerging on the scene and while being compared with the likes of Kanye & Lupe Fiasco is also credited with doing something different. All that and he still finds time to write a blog on hypebeast.

His recent release the “I Want You” mixtape is a great collection of new original music by Theo along with remixes and covers to give a good insight into what influences the mind of the man. In an interview recently in Brussels he said he just wanted to put another treat out there to keep the peoples ears happy while they wait for the big debut LP coming soon. Hopefully real soon. Here’s the single by the same title and another track I really dig off the mixtape, loving the Ahmed reference. The album also features a collaboration recorded last year with a curious line up in super group “Chauffeur” alongside eclectic producer Mark Ronson and vocalist Sam Sparro on the track Soles of Fire.

It feels like aeons have passed since I last published an article and although its only been a fortnight its been a slow and painful one.

So what’s the low down? Well for the last fourteen days and fourteen nights myself and a very talented programmer from Pakistan have been struggling to remove an exploit that was added to the inner workings that make Grievous Bodily Charm possible.

Why would someone want to do this to our magazine? Well with popularity comes jealousy and greed. What do they benefit from doing this? Well its a hack to attempt to trick search engines and such to make them think “OUR” traffic, is “THEIR” traffic and therefore giving their website more value and popularity. I am not sure if this actually works but it seems during March and April of 2010 the base64 decode Ninoplas virus has been rife in hitting Wordpress based content management system run websites.

Who do I blame? Firstly myself for not being more up on the security measures to put preventive blockades in place to prevent this and also GoDaddy for being well a pretty shitty hosting company. Thanks to Arshad of ExtensiveWeb for the great assistance with this issue and if anyone finds this from searching for base64decode or ninoplas then I highly recommend you contact this guy.

How can I make it up to the people? Well now this digital clap has been completely removed we have lots and lots of music, art, and other stuff to share with you guys. For now here are some songs I have been listening to over the past few days.

Graffiti artist and GBC favorite Banksy has launched his biggest ever exhibition in his home town of Bristol.

Banksy has a reputation for working under a shroud of secrecy stemming back to the days when he was an unknown student with a love for art working under cover graffing the streets of Bristol. This time it was no different, with the reason for the museum being closed remaining unknown to both public and council officials until the unveiling of the Bansky exhibition on the day of opening.

Indeed the same council budget that was being used to “clean up” the streets of graffiti by Banksy just a few years ago is now being used to bring home the citys favorite hometown artist.

The exhibition itself is a breathing taking modern collection of Banksys usual anti-globalisation, thought-provoking works. Featuring original artworks, animatronics and 3D sculptures.

The exhibition is free to visit and is open 10am-5pm everyday until the 31st of August 2009.

The ever elusive Banksy gave an insight into his thoughts about his latest work.

Banksy said: “This is the first show I’ve ever done where taxpayers’ money is being used to hang my pictures up rather than scrape them off.”

“This show is my vision of the future, to which many people will say: ‘You should have gone to Specsavers’”

“I think we may have dragged them down to our level rather than being elevated to theirs,” said Banksy of the subterfuge involved in staging the show in his home city.
