You may remember that back in August of last year we brought you the first sneak peak of the eagerly anticipated Tron Legacy, the follow up to the cultural icon that is the original 1982 Tron movie.

Today a new theatrical trailer for Tron Legacy was debuted at Comic Con 2010, which is taking place in San Diego this week. It is the third trailer to be released for the movie and gives us our best idea yet of what to expect from the film. The results are simply breathtaking and enough to make any film buff salivate.

Joseph Kosinski makes his feature film directorial debut with Tron: Legacy, while the previous film director, Steven Lisberger, returns as a producer. Jeff Bridges reprises his role as Kevin Flynn, and Bruce Boxleitner his roles as Alan Bradley and Tron, while Garrett Hedlund portrays Flynn’s now-adult son, Sam. The other cast members include Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett, Michael Sheen and John Hurt. At over twenty-eight years, this film marks the longest gap between a live-action film and its theatrical sequel in Hollywood history.

Tron Legacy is released 17 December 2010.

Coming soon to Channel 4… This Is England ‘86

Set three years on from Shane Meadows’ hit film This Is England, Shaun, Woody, Lol, and the rest of the gang are back!

It’s not on telly for a while yet, but with the World Cup on everyone’s mind it got us thinking back to the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, and what Shaun and his mates would have been up to as football fever swept the nation.

If you just can’t wait for the drama’s arrival on our screens later this year, here’s a sneaky peek into the lives of Shaun and the gang as we find them in 1986 (courtesy of Gadget’s home video!)

This Is England ‘86 is a brand new four-part drama from BAFTA award-winning director Shane Meadows, coming this autumn to Channel 4. More info to come in the coming weeks.

Defiantly louder than the BBC counterpart, Ice Cream finally reveals images from the brand’s upcoming Fall/Winter 2010 Range. Included  in this collection are more staples that we’d expect from Ice Cream, including classics such as graphic tees and crewnecks, along with chinos, denim, and footwear, and it has all been rounded off with a matching batch of accessories. Charis Tsevis is an Athens, Greece based visual and graphic artist who can be summed up shortly and appropriately as a bit of a don at what he does. He has been commission to illustrate with companies such as AT & T and other equally established and reputable firms.

It seems Charis and I share more than art in common and both follow football “Soccer for out state side friends” and are of course very excited for the world cup. I watched the first match today, and plan to watch the next one tonight though it doesn’t fully kick off in my terms until England play. So what does this have to do with art? Well… Charis has spent a lot of time lately putting together a lovely collection of digital illustrations using a limited colour pallet to create portraits of some of the World Cup’s greatest talents all themed by his rendition of  a traditional South African pattern technique he has been studying.

Take the site Fix Up Look Sharp that I found on Here Comes the Sun for instance, they have an impressive list of Kiwi bloggers posting photography, art, fashion and music. Also you must listen to their playlist, I just started on playlist #3 and wow what a treat.  So I took the very hard liberty of picking out a few bloggers posts, see them after the jump.

Global Gathering is the UK’s biggest dance music festival and attracts over a quarter of million people each year from all over the globe. It is held at Long Marston airfield, near Stratford-upon-Avon and started in 2001. This year will be the 10th birthday of Global Gathering and they now host similar festivals in 10 other countries, such as Ukraine, Poland, Turkey, Russia, Belarus and Australia. The UK line up reads like a who’s who of global dance music and Global Gathering have forged a reputation of attracting the hottest and biggest acts as headliners. Previous acts to provide the global masses with their oral fuel include Daft Punk, Kanye West and The Prodigy.

This year Global have kept their impressive resume of headlining acts going with the announcement that the legendary Faithless and man of the moment Dizzee Rascal will be leading this years festivities. Backed up by the likes of massive dance music names such as Chase & Status, Armin Van Buuren, Carl Cox, 2many DJs, Adam Beyer, Sub Focus, Judge Jules, John Digweed and many many more, this years party promises to be the biggest yet.

As always with Global Gathering, it is not just the headlining acts that are a reason for excitement. With a list of DJ’s longer than the longest of arms, Global Gathering provides the opportunity to see world famous DJ’s playing exclusive sets to their real fans in an environment where everybody is up for it and everyone wants to have a good time.
