In the expansive Karakum desert of Turkmenistan, near the 350 person village of Derweze, is a 328 feet wide hole. This hole has been on fire, continuously, for the last 38 years.
Known as the Darvaza Gas Crater or the “Door to Hell” by locals, the crater can be seen glowing for miles around.

This abandoned Russian fortress is one of the creepiest places we’ve seen.
