It is powered by a 200 Horse Power petrol engine and can reach a top speed of 60 mph, an altitude of 8,000 feet, and fly for over 30 minutes on a full tank of fuel. See how it is controlled here:

Click here to view the embedded video.

Each Jetpack costs $75,000, and they are available to pre-order now. However we are yet to see the Jetpack fly outside of a warehouse and up to the 8,000 feet the designers claim it is capable of. Despite this fact, the Martin Jetpack is certainly an impressive piece of technology, and as the design improves and becomes safer, this could well become a fun way to travel in the future.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Surprisingly you don’t need a pilots license to fly the Jetpack, although extensive training is seriously recommended. If you’ve got a spare $75,000 and a death wish you can find out more info here – Martin Jetpack.

A new and interesting scheme has been launched to promote safe sex in the world of clubbing. The plan is simple, Flash a rubber in the queue and you instantly jump to the front! The scheme has been devised to promote safe sex and awareness of sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s) and will hopefully be spreading faster than the diseases themselves. Currently the idea has been rolled out across six clubs in Liverpool and is also landing at Ministry Of Sound in London this Saturday. The scheme is simple and hopefully will be effecitve in putting to death the dreaded STD.

Maybe soon the condom will be featured in Vogue as the hottest new accessory!

What happens to old skateboard decks? Well most probably end up in the bin, and a lucky few may make it into storage in a dusty corner of the garage to be reminisced over when you are old and balding at best. Now however, art collective Haroshi have launched a series of art pieces made using the interesting and unique layer patterns of old skateboard decks.

This is a new take on eco and recycled artwork, the recent Harvest project showcased a selection of the collective’s work from recent years, exemplifying philosophy to embrace sustainability through finding new applications for used possessions.

“There is no single USED skateboard that it is bend or scrunched in the same way. As if it is a personality, skateboard has it`s own character. What I am doing is to focusing on each personality and use it`s element to create my work. So I am trying to show the out shoot of the board beautifully as color of the skateboard looks beautiful when it`s pasted together.”

Google is always looking to take the next step forward on all its projects. The much discussed “20 percent time” that Google employees receive has resulted in a lot of success stories and new advancements and ideas for the company. Jason Holt used his 20 percent project time to create a wraparound view of a modified Google Earth engine, and splashed it across 8 LCD screens in an immersive viewing booth. The result provides a view that bring back memories of the Glass Elevator in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and allows users to seamlessly explore a virtual environment of the Earth, Moon, and Mars. Google has dubbed the experience “Liquid Galaxy.”

Click here to view the embedded video.

Google Liquid Earth was unveiled at TED 2010, and this video from the event showcases Holt running his demo on eight Linux machines and navigating with a six-axis mouse. He also makes use of voice-issued commands to zoom out from San Francisco, California and travel across the globe to check out India’s Taj Mahal. Google continues to push the boundaries of technology and information. Check out another video of Google Liquid Earth, this time filmed at the Google booth at COP 15.

On the 22nd of March Audio Bullys are poised to release their third outing entitled “High as The Eiffel” and the first single Only Man is in heavy rotation on most radio stations. As a treat to wet your appetite while you wait take a listen to Jakwob’s brilliant remix of Only Man. Jakwob has made a name for himself in the UK over the past twelve months remixing some great tracks and more often than not, improving on the originals. He has also been DJ’ing all over the place and we at GBC anticipate his first full release. Until then I think we will be checking out the rest of the Audio Bully’s album to see what it’s saying. I am expecting a return to the style of their first album Ego War after they admitted their sophomore release “Generation”on Virgin was misguided and took them away from the sound they wanted to make.

Won Park has stunned fellow papercraft enthusiasts and art fans alike with his splendid creative abilities in folding paper. Unlike most origami artists Won uses a dollar bill as his canvas as opposed to A4 or special origami paper, meaning he really has to make every millimeter count. He is often referred to as “The Money Folder” and his choice to use the one dollar note is perhaps due to the fact although simplistic in colour it provides a great organic texture when in the context of an animals skin or mechanics. Won explains he simply had no paper one day and realized the texture, hardiness, and novelty value of using a dollar note was the general reason why he chose it as his medium.

Although there are other “money folders” Won’s meticulous attention to detail fascinates me and he goes to extreme lengths to achieve his dynamic results. Folding, twisting, and dare I say tearing to name a few.

Here is a fantastic gallery of some of his work. Enjoy.

Here’s Tinashé’s new video Mayday the lead single from his highly anticipated EP release of the same title. Zimbabwean born Tinashé has experienced quite the adventure in getting to his current position after spending the first decade of his life in Zimbabwe sharing a room with several family members he followed his mother in her move to South London to escape the hardship they’d experienced.

Now signed to Island records, his second record deal after a miserable time at Sony with no results he is poised to release his EP on the fourteenth of march. His first single (see below) is an auto tuned acoustic rock/pop record that will definitely transcend genres. We look forward to hearing the record in its entirety.

Res first came to my attention on the 2001 release by Talib Kweli entitled “Quality” and when I heard Golden Boys (her first single) a few years later my initial thoughts were that there was a strong future for this alternative soul artist.

Res a singer songwriter from has had to overcome a lot of music industry politics to continue pursuing her quest as a musician and singer songwriter. After the record label MCA that released her debut “How I Do” went under she moved to a Geffen records in a difficult deal. After finishing her second recording she was forced to shelve her album until a future date. Its now 2010 she is a free agent after leaving Geffen and more importantly I can now inform you that her second album Black.Girls.Rock is availble from her official website for free download. Happy Face.

Go to Res Official Website for more information.

Her style could be considered a hybrid of neo soul and alternative rock and unfortunately in this business of pidgeon holes, record companies and radio stations struggled with categorizing and her identity and subsequently Res’ music has thus far failed to find a good source of radio based promotion. My personal thoughts are that a lot has changed in media since her first album and with the internet rushing towards a web 3.0 status with all the news, blog and social media aggregation that is going on I feel her audience is now far more available. Perhaps this was part of the reason behind her releasing her second album for free download online.

Res has been very busy over the past few years, between recording the album she has also taken up a photography course, done some advertising as the poster girl for Mark Ecko, worked with NERD, SantiGold, toured with Gnarles Barkey and is planning a collaboration album with Talib Kweli and Graph Nobel of Idle Warship.

Heres a video from the new album, its a soft rock/pop number and very emotive.
