Magnetic Man is a dubstep super group formed from three producers/DJs Skream, Benga and Artwork. They perform live using their mac laptops all synchronized in harmony. Their début single is out on July 25th entitled I Need Air” and gets a big GBC thumbs up. Keep your ear to the ground as I am sure you will be hearing a lot more from this trio.

Giggs is an emcee who needs little introduction to UK Grime listeners however may be a new name to our stateside brethren. A man who is outgoing, has purpose and has also been waiting some time to drop his debut LP. The title of the album which is available now is appropriately titled “Let Em Ave It” and released via XL Recordings. While preparing the album Giggs has also been running his own market store in Peckham an entrepreneur and a man who is big in the community.

If you like it raw then you will probably love Giggs, I haven’t copped the album yet though what I have heard I have enjoyed.

The albums first single “Look What The Cat Dragged In” demonstrates Giggs uniquely deep vocal delivery over a grimy synth orientated beat which you can listen below.

Mark Ronson is set to release his new album entitled “Record Collection” this September and apparently without any covers or remixes included this time round. (note to self – Must get a copy of the Mark Ronson Pink Mixtape that I lost). The video for the new single with his band The Business INTL featuring veteran but still “on-it” rapper Q-Tip who only last year released one of the greatest albums of his career and MNDR a female vocalist from Cali.

The new single is pretty heavy, and has a very 80’s synth pop sound, quite different from his previous soul renditions of already great records, well most of them. Here’s the video which is equally as good as the music it presents. Looking forward to the album, anyone else?

Charis Tsevis is an Athens, Greece based visual and graphic artist who can be summed up shortly and appropriately as a bit of a don at what he does. He has been commission to illustrate with companies such as AT & T and other equally established and reputable firms.

It seems Charis and I share more than art in common and both follow football “Soccer for out state side friends” and are of course very excited for the world cup. I watched the first match today, and plan to watch the next one tonight though it doesn’t fully kick off in my terms until England play. So what does this have to do with art? Well… Charis has spent a lot of time lately putting together a lovely collection of digital illustrations using a limited colour pallet to create portraits of some of the World Cup’s greatest talents all themed by his rendition of  a traditional South African pattern technique he has been studying.

Theophilus London is not a pseudonym, a clever play on words, or an alias but the birth name of Theophilus London II a hip hop artist who infuses house, soul and some disco into his musical broth. There are a million ways to describe his music and at the same time there isn’t one. From funky to laid back jams the music examines and describes a broad musical and artistic influence. An artist quickly emerging on the scene and while being compared with the likes of Kanye & Lupe Fiasco is also credited with doing something different. All that and he still finds time to write a blog on hypebeast.

His recent release the “I Want You” mixtape is a great collection of new original music by Theo along with remixes and covers to give a good insight into what influences the mind of the man. In an interview recently in Brussels he said he just wanted to put another treat out there to keep the peoples ears happy while they wait for the big debut LP coming soon. Hopefully real soon. Here’s the single by the same title and another track I really dig off the mixtape, loving the Ahmed reference. The album also features a collaboration recorded last year with a curious line up in super group “Chauffeur” alongside eclectic producer Mark Ronson and vocalist Sam Sparro on the track Soles of Fire.

Georgia Anne Muldrow has taken on the curious task of remixing Suites for Ma Dukes and has done so with distinction. Georgia has produced for the likes of Erykah Badu and hip hops finest Mos Def.

Georgia decided she would rather play along with the original as opposed to cutting and chopping it up and her rendition gives good reason for the existence of the remix. Georgia also adds the additional vocals to the song featuring Nokware in her lap.

Suites for Ma Dukes, if you are not familiar an orchestral piece fronted by and the brainchild of Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and Carlos Niño. Their EP features classically composed renditions of 4 of J Dilla’s tracks and is a beautifully put together EP.

The remix along with two others by Te’Amir and Jneiro will be available on a Timeless Remixed EP sometime this summer. I’ll keep my ear to the ground on that one.

Wah Wah 45s is an eclectic record label with some very versatile artists of which Stac is certainly a big part of. After a presumably emotional start to 2010 with the passing of one of the founders Simon Goss it’s good to see the label continuing to do what they do best and that’s good music. Stac’s third release “All or Nothing” being recieved nicely with Mr Giles Peterson calling it “Dope”.

The remix by Lenafrosaxon is a brilliant off to the left, hip hop influenced rendition of an already beautifully executed soul record. You can listen to the remix below. The record features the original (of course) the before mentioned remix and a more down tempo interpretation from Blue Daisy. We look forward to hearing the début long player.

Jay Electronica recently undertook the task to write the music to the documentary “A Million In The Morning” the brain child of Gavin McInnes as he tries to break the Guinness world record for staying awake. The documentary follows Gavin as he goes to extreme lengths to keep his brain active and more importantly break that record. Jay’s introspective commentary complements a unique and profound documentary, time and time again he has proven how he refuses to conform to any typical rap record ideology and for that we salute him.
