Exit Through The Gift Shop is the film debut from the renowned street artist Banksy which gets its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and a general UK cinema release date of March 5th. When asked about the film Banksy is reported to have said “It’s the story of how one man set out to film the un-filmable. And failed”.
Banksy, who still to this day remains anonymous is reported to feature heavily in this film at work with several of the top graffiti artists in the world, though its is yet to be seen whether Banksy will reveal his full identity or not. In 2009 he hijacked a museum in Bristol to display his work to which he received some great reviews and massive attention See “Banksy Bristol Museum“. This year Banksy plans to go one better and vandalize the big screen and I for one am thoroughly looking forward to seeing it.
John Cooper, the director of the Sundance Film Festival has been quoted as saying “Exit Through The Gift Shop is one of those films that comes along once in a great while, a warped hybrid of reality and self-induced fiction while at the same time a totally entertaining experience,”.
