Obscura Cue Light

Check out the Obscura Cue Light, the futuristic pool table that could well represent the next generation of the game of pool.

The table uses a new software and animation technique to make to make it appear that you are playing on an artistic liquid surface that is responsive to the balls. In addition to this setup, where the balls reveal an image hidden underneath, you can also set it up to have flames track behind the balls, or water that ripples as the balls pass over it. Not only does it look great, it also works very accurately and smoothly to create a fantastic effect.

The system itself will set you back $80,000, no pool table included. At the Esquire Ultimate Bachelor Pad, where it’s currently set up, it’s projecting on a $125,000 pool table. Bottom line: $200,000.

Obscura Cue Light are also working on new software that will make it more useful than flashy. Imagine playing pool and having the lines where you should shoot projected on the table, with a computer doing all the math necessary to show you just where to aim and how hard to hit. Not only could you track the path of your balls after a shot, it will also be a great way for people to learn the game of pool or improve their skills.
