Nosaj Thing – Drift and Remixes

As Hip Hop has developed and reached far and wide its not hard to notice that it has also spawned off in multiple directions. I have definitely become far more interested in the interesting, obscure and original beat smiths out there and grown a little tired of some of the radio typical rap music that often gives it a bad and almost cheesy reputation to any of the un”head”ucated out there. I urge you “music” lovers to think twice, and listen to some absolute ten million percent pure experimental hip hop.

Nosaj Thing is surely one of the guys out there right now holding the flag for pushing boundaries, and its easy to make the comparison sometimes between J Dilla and himself. Definitely not a bad comparison however his sound still remains unique. His remix work, his original work, it is all brilliant, as he takes Hip Hop and fuses it with Dance music, break beats and a whole lot more.

Nosaj resides from LA and breaks the stereotype in a lot of peoples mind when they thing of the term “West Coast Rap”. The traditional “West Coast” sound dominated the charts throughout the 90′s with a laid back sound often with a gangster vocal overtone. Times change, and now theres a whole new breed of music coming from the wild west. So as I was diggin through the archives and reminiscing on what was hot in 2009 I thought I would share some of my enjoyment with you. Here is a short interview followed by a few of my favourite Nosaj songs.
