by Jacques Jones on December 30, 2009

Never on time, always fashionably late. Following up Day&Night‘s weekend special Friday with Pippo – Saturday Remixes GBC arrive with some more great remixes for you to sink your eardrums into. “What you got for me?”

<Insert Suspense> ;)

Lets Go!

The Pharcyde – Passin’ Me By (Hot Chip Remix)

The original of this record was one of the quintessential hip hop records of the 90′s and I cant think of a more original group than Hot Chip to remix this record, completely unpredictable down tempo spin on the beautiful original. Pharcyde are one of the most influential hip hop groups in my record collection.

Walter Murphy – A Fifth Of Beethoven (Soulwax remix)

The original is already a great track, but Soulwax really know how to get things going, and the final result is a dance anthem, and I bet they didnt even flinch making it. Dope.

The Specials – Ghost Town (DJG Bootleg dubstep remix)

We all love the specials here at GBC, and the ska scene in itself has had a massive influence on the way music is, and particularly dance music today. This remix is a nice way to freshen Ghost Town up for the club environment.

Royksopp – What else is there ( Thin White Duke Remix )

Royksopp come back every so often with a fantastic album of interesting and unique dance music, and this Thin White Duke Remix was possibly one of our favorite listens of the past few years.

Common – The Light (J Dilla Remix) Featuring Erykah Badu

As another year passes I continue to play Dilla’s records. One of the greatest producers of my time this remix is such a smooth spin on an already buttery smooth record. Common Erykah and Dilla, all amazing artists.

Passion Pit – Little Secrets (Jack Beats Remix)

This track by Passion Pit was very popular, check out this dirty, filthy, mucky remix by Jack Beats it’s pure genius. Simply take more than your average amount of your favorite intoxicating substance and get mental to this one.

Collie Buddz – Come Around (Drum & Bass Remix) DJ Yoda

YouTube Preview Image

DJ Yoda is one of the greatest live DJ’s I have had the personal pleasure to see out and about, I have seen Yoda DJ in a few different cities in the United Kingdom and he never fails to impress. This DnB remix really gets the crowds moving. Mmmmm hazey.

SIA – Buttons (Cansei De Ser Sexy Remix)

Sia Fuller must be one of the most hard working women in the industry. Between recording her own albums and recording as one of the main vocalists on the majority of Zero 7 records she really is getting her art out there. The original to this was my favorite track from the popular 2007 release “Some People Have Real Problems” and this remix by CSS is just brilliant. Enjoy.

Mos Def – Umi Says (Zero 7 Mix)

YouTube Preview Image

On the issue of Zero 7 I thought it appropriate to include this fantastic remix of “Umi Says” by Mos Def. What can I say about that man? No introduction would match up to what he can do for himself during this instant vintage record. My Umi say’s shine yo light on the world, Life is not promised, enjoy it while you can.

Happy New Year! :) and Remember to see more like this, and continue enjoying some great remixes, just carry on to Day & Night at Friday with Pippo – Saturday Remixes
